PILOT’S HANDBOOK

Four steps to touchdown.

  1. Slow down. Hold Reduce / ← until the throttle is at idle. Aim for the speed range shown on your flight card. Bigger planes land faster. Stay above the minimum speed while flying.
  2. Lower the landing gear. Tap Lower gear / G during the approach. At the faster game pace, it takes 0.6 seconds to extend. Wait for WHEELS DOWN before touching the runway; landing with the gear up or still moving causes a burning belly slide if touchdown is gentle.
  3. Descend gently. Use Nose down / ↓ to descend faster. Near the runway, hold Nose up / ↑ briefly to flare: make the descent slower than 4 m/s. Land inside the runway; the green zone earns more points.
  4. Stop on the strip. Hold the brake / Space after your wheels touch down. Touch down early and keep braking. Heavy planes take longer to stop. A concrete barrier waits beyond the end of the runway.

Throttle stays where you leave it; releasing the pitch controls gently levels the nose. Use small adjustments. A gentle gear-up landing slides on the belly and catches fire. The damaged engines stop, and wheel brakes cannot help. Stop before the barrier and some people survive; the run still resets. A hard touchdown, a stall, or hitting the runway-end barrier causes an explosion. Still airborne past the runway? The plane climbs away safely, with no casualties or damage; a missed approach resets the run.

Climb the fleet. Land and stop safely to unlock the next plane. Complete all five in a row to finish the run. Any crash, burning belly landing, or missed approach sends you back to the Cessna. Perfect landings score 850 or more; your lifetime log survives a failed run.

Touch controls support several fingers at once. In the air, wheel brakes have no effect.
